Geordie, Lanky or Dingle? Do you mean Yorkshire, PK? Lancashire and Yorkshire dialect is very similar, but Geordie is different. Do we have any Geordies on this forum, I wonder? Not everyone says where they're from, which is fair enough, but I'm not ashamed of where I come from. In fact, I'm darned proud to be a Lancashire Lass! _________________ At One With All Creatures of the Earth - Respect, Reflection, Resilience, Responsibility

Thanks PebbleZ. As I said, I'm a Lancashire lass, but I've lived all over the place as well. Germany, Worcester, Hereford, Hampshire, Londonderry, Berlin, and other places as well.
So, only one negative thought on this as yet. I used to belong to another forum where folk posted their poems, in different dialects to my own and, I have to admit, I found some of them a little hard going but, once I settled into the accent I found great humour in them. _________________ At One With All Creatures of the Earth - Respect, Reflection, Resilience, Responsibility

What was the question again?...................Oh yes, a literature section.
I think this is an excellent idea. I am not a writer but I'm an avid reader and I love reading people's stories and poems. It doesn't make any difference what dialect they're written in, the medium of television has made it a lot easier to understand all the differents dialects that make up this wonderful English language. As a relatively new internet user (I only started all this malarkey in April) I'm absolutely amazed at the number of unpublished writers I have come across in forums and on various sites. There's a huge amount of talent out there. To me this little box on my desk is the best present I could ever have got................it my very own fingertip library and I love it.
So I think this is a great idea and all you writers on this forum can share that wonderful talent you all have. I for one, will certainly appreciate it. _________________

Well Daphne, thanks for that very positive response to my suggestion. I have written quite a lot of stuff, and I'd love to share it with you all, but not without the medium of a Literature section.
I have shared my stories on another forum which provides such a medium. It is true to say though, that watching programmes in Scouse, Lanky or other dialects can be easy enough to listen to and understand, but the written word could be difficult. However, having said that, I have Anglicised by Lanky dialect and hopefully it's easy enough for most folk to understand. _________________ At One With All Creatures of the Earth - Respect, Reflection, Resilience, Responsibility
