I just dont get why they're making a big deal out of a teen pregnancy SL thats all. i mean it's not as if Dig is under 16 or anything and its not that shocking x it just annoyed that me that they even critisised it xxx though i think its probably cos its an aussie soap and its shown earlier over there or something _________________

I dont see what the big problem is, they have done this storyline before with Pheobe and Todd years ago with the whole teen pregnancy and subject of abortion(showing my age now)
If I remember right though they kicked up a big fuss about that as well.
At least Dig isnt thinking of having the baby on her partners grave |

I agree...I see nothing wrong with this storyline. There are always stupid complaints about these great storylines which reflect real life issues - Violence, teenage pregnancy, homosexuals, child abuse, even complaints about Dotty's comments on Tiffany's ginger hair (Eastenders). People have to understand that society has changed and things like teenage pregnancy and homosexuality are now common occurrences. Complaints about Dotty's comments on Tiffany's hair are especially daft 'cause bullying is an important issue that Eastenders are exploring.
If we don't have these storylines...how many other interesting storylines are there? If we remove these storylines...there won't be many left and soaps will be even more repetitive than ever. |

Even though that's a UK site, I should imagine the criticism is based on Australian critics and the rating of "PG".
Australia has very strict rules about what can and can't be shown before certain times - which seem to have got stricter as time has gone on. I'm not just talking like the UK guidelines, where we don't have certain swear words before 9pm.
I wish I could remember the list of things I read once which Neighbours weren't allowed to do (it's why we get lots of euphemisms like: "going to the next level" and "protection"). It is utterly insane what they can't do and it's probably the main reason why H&A rates so highly in Australia - as it begins at 7 and thus can show more content. |

Yeah. You can sort of understand that though with the teacher/student thing.
In regards to the point made about Todd and Phoebe earlier - don't quote me on it but Neighbours did used to be aired later (7pm, or 7.30 I believe) in Australia - thus their storyline was after the very strict watershed.
I believe "gay" is one of the extreme examples of this watershed. I'm pretty sure (but not certain) that Neighbours can't talk about people's sexual orientations because using the word "gay" isn't allowed before 7pm. It's unbelievable really, but if you think about the uproar when Sky and Lana kissed...! I'll have to check my facts to be sure on that though |

jeez! they've got pretty strict rules don't they ?? lol also remember that thing with the whole Brigdet/Chris/Taylah thing? he was a creep, but they weren't allowed to say anything that he had actually done to Taylah. It was just sort of hinted at _________________
